to quote'ish Sinead O'Connor

On Monday 20th Aug we all heard the terrible news that our friend and fellow petrol-head, Buster, passed away. We're all devastated, very sad and bit disorientated at this time. He will greatly missed as a friend and always be a huge part of our community.

This section of the forum is a meeting place for friends of George to talk and meet.

(By request this section of forum will be publicly viewable to allow family and friends view our messages)

It was around this time 3 years ago that I started working on my car. He was always first to comment on the updates, mostly to say that I needed to get my s*** together

If he said it or typed it, then he meant it

today and yesterday were a double whammy for me,

yesterday Buster was 6 months motoring around the highways above the clouds ... today my dad is 33 years departed from my life.

I do think of George too a good few times a week.. the old cranky fecker got under our skin... in a very good way.

Pat I know nothing of afterlife etc to be honest; but as long as you think about / talk about or joke about someone after they have passed then they're not really gone imo.... that's just my existential take on it.

Here's a thing; I talk to my kids about their great grand parents about funny stuff that happened in the 1970/1980's'.. they ask to repeat these stories from time to time; so kids in 2019 are getting a kick out of events and people from the 70's. They talk about great grandparents they never met with affection and admiration ... how cool is that???!!

We have to keep talking out loud about loved ones and friends that have passed - that keeps them alive and a smile on the old face - we can only hope we're worthy of the same when we go...

Classic car ownership will make you question your sanity: Why, at 02:33am on a week night am I lying on my back freezing cold, oil in my eyes, with skinned bleeding knuckles? Ah sure work is not for another 5 hours! There's loads of time yet.. Yey!!

Pat I'm delighted that you are sharing your pain with us.
It's still less than a month since my mother passed and it definitely hits you in waves....

Rory, my condolences on your Mum's passing
Try to keep looking forward
And in my experience, time doesn't heal, but it does dull the sharp pain a little
